Boston's At The Cutting Edge of Green Buildings. Here's Why.

Boston companies are at the cutting edge of tech R&D, so it's no surprise their buildings are at the cutting edge of sustainability. Our next event will ask: what'll the next generation of green buildings look like? Sign up here for our Boston Sustainability & Property Management event at the Boston Harbor Hotel on March 1. Today, we catch up with some of our speakers. Call it "spring training" for the big event.

“One of the challenges we’ve been faced with...has been something we have sought to turn into a competitive advantage—benchmarking compliance, Bozzuto Management president Stephanie Williams, who will be one of our speakers, tells us. Stephanie's here with Bozzuto managing director of strategic support solutions Chad Cooley, who oversees portfolio-wide sustainability initiatives.

From smart thermostats that display energy and water usage in real time to web portals that monitor whole building utility consumption, there's a whole world of data analytics and tracking available to turn “green” buildings into “high-performance” properties, she explains.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff's Luka Matutinovic tells us the cutting edge of sustainable design and technology is people—representing the biggest costs but also the greatest benefits. "Equity, wellness, retention, engagement, productivity—these are the new metrics of sustainability. That’s what market leaders who are embracing things like Living Building Challenge, WiredScore and the WELL Standard are increasingly focused on."

Come hear more at our Boston Sustainability & Property Management event at the Boston Harbor Hotel, beginning at 7:30am on March 1. Sign up here.
