A former Charlestown milk plant has cleared a Boston hurdle to become a mixed-use development.

The owners of the old Hood Park dairy production facility got Boston Planning & Development Agency approval Friday on a revised master plan to turn the 20-acre property into a transit-oriented development. The BPDA previously approved a master plan for the site in 2000, but the latest approval clears the way for about 1.1M SF of office, lab, hotel and residential development across eight buildings.

The BPDA also approved 10 Stack St., a planned 232-foot office tower where agriculture technology company Indigo Ag is expected to be based. The company already employs 300 people at a headquarters at 500 Rutherford Ave. in Hood Park.

Given its location near the Orange Line between North Station and Assembly Row, Hood Park’s owner anticipates more companies will look to relocate or expand in the Charlestown development, already made up of three fully leased office buildings.

“This approval is an important step forward, and we are excited to move through the approval process and bring the new Hood Park to life,” Hood Park owner Chris Kaneb said in a prepared statement. “[Hood Park] will improve infrastructure, create links to transit, expand community and green space, increase affordable housing, bring much-needed lab and office space and offer educational programming and valuable work experience for young people in Charlestown.”
