CohnReznick principal Nick Ratti, a specialist in tax credit financed real estate transactions, says that even if the state economy hits speed bumps this year, Boston will be somewhat insulated due to the diversity of its economic profile: meds/eds, high tech, professional and financial services. At the moment, subsidies for affordable housing development are still flowing and historic and New Market tax credits are helping to fill financing gaps in CRE projects.The strong residential rental market has led some developers to turn away from CRE development and toward multifamily, Nick tells us.
