Niketown To Take Over FAO Schwarz's Old Digs

Nike is getting ready to move its flagship store to the former FAO Schwarz space at the General Motors Building.

Niketown currently occupies about 95k SF at Donald Trump’s 6 East 57th St, but has been looking for a way out of the pricey location—which sits right next to the Apple cube—for years, The Real Deal reports.

At this point it’s unclear how much of the 61k SF formerly occupied by FAO Schwarz Nike is planning to take. The space includes 13k SF on the ground floor and about 34k SF split between a lower level, mezzanine and a second floor.

FAO Schwarz was still considering renewing its lease as late as April of last year, but faced with rising rents, ultimately decided to get out. It closed its doors in July after nearly 30 years at the location. [TRD]
