The multifamily market in New York is facing some significant headwinds.

Sales and volume have slowed in the first quarter, as upcoming changes to the laws governing the way rent-stabilized buildings are run, as well as the possible introduction of commercial rent control, are all chilling the market.

Meanwhile, amid a housing crisis, the cost of construction and land means building affordable units is harder than ever.

The challenges, and opportunities, in the market were all examined last week at Bisnow’s Multifamily Annual Conference Tri-State. Click through the slideshow below to see pictures from the event.
