NYC's First Micro Units: $2,910 for 355 SF

Placeholder

NYC’s first micro-unit development, called Carmel Place, at 335 East 27th St, kicks off leasing today. The nine-story project by Monadnock Development and the Lower East Side Peoples’ Mutual Housing Association, has 55 studio apartments, ranging from 260 SF to 360 SF.

They come either furnished or unfurnished, according to the New York Times. A furnished 355 SF unit will run you $2,910, and you can knock $160/month off for an unfurnished one. The demand's there; the building has 14 affordable units with 60,000 people (you read that right) applying for them. The building’s scheduled to open in February. [NYT]
