Verizon To Continue Co-Working Expansion, Opening Locations In Boston And DC

Verizon is tapping into the tech startup world by embracing co-working, and execs say it's not for the money.

The telecommunications behemoth opened its first co-working facility earlier this year in Manhattan in partnership with Grind, a firm similar to WeWork, and is interested in opening other locations in Boston, Washington, DC, and London in an effort to connect to the growing startup and tech world, the Wall Street Journal reports. Verizon's co-working spaces boast high-speed broadband, kitchen amenities and meeting rooms.

“It’s about creativity that we get to advise and mentor,” says Verizon head of real estate John Vazquez. The growth of co-working, and the interest the concept receives from established companies is a sign of the changing workforce as more Millennials work for startups or pursue their own companies.
