Rising Opens Living Wall at PacMutual

In what is perhaps the most lively office amenity, Rising Realty has unveiled a more than 80-foot-tall living wall at its PacMutual campus in DTLA. The company likes to call it a "living park." Chris Rising tells Bisnow the space works well as an extension of Pershing Square.

The vertical landscape on the east side of the campus consists of native California plants that don't require much watering, in line with the company's focus on sustainability. Originally built in 1908 with additions in 1921 and 1926, PacMutual is the oldest property in SoCal to be LEED Platinum certified.

At the base of the wall is a new French restaurant, Pitchoun Bakery. Chris says he hopes the wall and bakery will liven up the area and encourage more businesses to follow his lead. It's just the latest in a string of wins for the makeover, which has been a big win for DTLA. Last month we told you Rising landed a 21k SF lease to bring Hueston Hennigan to the building, bringing it up to 95% leased.
