The 9.4M SF Antelope Valley Commerce Center has received final entitlement approval, according to a release from the project's developer, Covington Group.
It's one of the largest industrial projects ever proposed in Los Angeles County, Covington Group said.
Project entitlements cover approval for AVCC East, where roughly 8M SF of industrial development is planned. AVCC West, which is 1.4M SF, was previously approved. Approvals include the ability to build one warehouse up to 2M SF.
Total project costs are expected to reach approximately $1.2B, according to the release.
The city of Palmdale, located on the northern edge of Los Angeles County, is an industrial real estate hub that is expanding on its reputation. The city is also moving forward with a 1M SF proposed facility for Trader Joe's near the AVCC site, according to Covington Group.
Palmdale and the high desert in general have seen larger deals over the past couple of years as the Inland Empire works through its supply. The high desert also has a reputation for being business-friendly with more available land than the built-up Inland Empire.
