The Los Angeles Chargers will establish a new headquarters in El Segundo, joining the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings.

The team announced Monday that it will build its new HQ and practice facility on 14 acres on Nash Street south of El Segundo Boulevard and east of Pacific Coast Highway in partnership with Continental Development Corp. and Mar Ventures Inc.

"The look, feel and functionality of your training facility means more today than it ever has in professional sports," General Manager Tom Telesco said. "Being able to create a building that can grow with technological advances — especially in regard to nutritional needs, strength and performance, injury prevention, medical treatment and game planning — is crucial to sustained success.”

Continental and Mar Ventures will build the facility and lease it to the Chargers. The project will include a 145K SF main building, 7.6K SF outdoor terrace and three football fields. It will hold a rooftop club, an esports and content studio, team meeting rooms and an approximately 3K SF media center. Gensler Sports is designing the new hub.

The team has been temporarily working out of Costa Mesa since moving to LA from San Diego in 2017 and will continue to use the site until the new HQ is complete, the Los Angeles Times reported. The new site is 7 miles away from the Chargers’ other home, the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The pegged development cost for the Chargers' new home is $100M, according to the LA Times.

The new facility is slated to open in spring 2024. Plans will go before the city’s planning commission by the end of the month. The site, currently a parking lot, is located next to the under-construction Nash Street Exchange, a medical, retail and restaurant development from Continental Development and Mar Ventures.
