London’s oldest car park is set to become a £500M luxury complex with flats, offices, an art gallery and a subterranean car park serviced by two car elevators.
The Carrington Street car park, built in 1907, has been the subject of speculation for years, with numerous investors and developers flirting with the site. Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, the architects behind Google’s King’s Cross HQ, have submitted plans to Westminster for permission to build a major residential scheme.
The proposal includes 29 apartments, office space, an art gallery, a gym, a restaurant and retail. The streets surrounding the proposed development are lined with luxury retailers and residential; the car park has been the last holdout.
