White House Replica For Sale In Galveston

White House Replica For Sale In Galveston

A replica of the White House is on the market in Morgan’s Point, a small community on Galveston Bay. Built in the 1920s by then Gov. Ross Sterling, this 21k SF mansion is selling for $5.9M, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Constructed to look like the South Portico at the White House, the mansion bears the infamous round columned portico flanked by dual staircases and a flagpole to top it off. In addition, the nine-bedroom, 15-bath house includes a 43-foot-long great room, a library, a gym, a media room and even a ballroom.

The seller, orthopedic surgeon Marcos Masson, bought the house and its six acres for $3.2M and spent about $1.5M on renovations that include importing sand and palm trees to create a private beach. He told WSJ he’s selling now to build cash flow for future projects.

Reps of John Daugherty Realtors, the firm listing the property, say that sales over $1M are rare in Morgan’s Point, making this the most expensive home on the market in the small community. [WSJ]
