Scott Maloney

Crain

I operate at the intersection of strategy, execution, and capital. Typically in sectors where complexity is high and stakes are real.

My background spans consulting, venture investment, and operating leadership as a serial entrepreneur of several companies (and their exits). I currently serve as a senior partner at Crain & Company, where we advise biotech, animal health, healthcare services, energy, and professional service firms on hardcore strategy, scaling operations, entering new markets, and unlocking value that others overlook.

Much of my work centers on pattern recognition — identifying structural inefficiencies, underleveraged assets, or mispriced risk — and then designing strategies and operational systems to exploit them. That may take the form of scrapping and restarting strategic planning, turnaround execution, investment planning, restructuring a team, reworking a distribution model, or guiding a board through strategic recalibration.

As an investor, my approach favors binary events, asymmetric opportunities, and quiet fundamentals over loud storytelling. Here I span early-stage ventures and the public markets.
