Battling the enrollment bulge—from 14,500 to almost 23,000 students in the past seven years—The University of Texas at Dallas plans to start construction on a $54M mixed-use project on campus that will include student housing for 600 students. The project, called Northside, will also feature retail space on 13 acres near Synergy Park Boulevard and Floyd Road (and a future commuter rail station site), reports the Dallas Morning News. Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions and Wynne/Jackson are building the project. Jacobs Engineering and Architecture Demarest designed Northside. [DMN]
