CRE Execs On Vacation

The kids are registered for school, and we're all returning to the office. But we're not ready to give up on summer just yet (what can we do to scare away the pumpkins?), so we asked our readers to send in some of their recent vacation snaps.

The first lady of DFW commercial real estate, Billingsley Co’s Lucy Billingsley, and her husband, Henry (right), joined Hall Financial Group’s Craig Hall and wife Kathryn on a trip to Svalbard aboard the National Geographic boat, The Explorer. The two couples ventured through Norway and the Fjords and even saw polar bears in Svalbard.

Cencor Realty SVP David McNeil caught and released this bull red drum near Destin. He reeled that 40-pound monster in on his own, too. He (along with colleagues Steve Gray and Blake Shipp) also recently landed a 45k SF Indo Pak World Market international grocery store deal at Matlock and Green Oaks in Arlington in a former Winn Dixie. It’s set to open next week. Michael Uhm repped the tenant.

Transwestern VP Jo Thompson shared this selfie of her and hubby Reed in Piazza San Marco while they were in Italy earlier this summer. The duo visited Florence, Lucca, Venice, and Milan with the intent of burying her mother’s ashes in the family grave in Lucca, which is near Florence. Her mom (who passed away last October) was a native Italian, Jo tells us.

EDGE Realty Capital Markets principal Mart Martindale just returned from two days of non-stop golf at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisc. Here’s Mart with Bridge Title’s Peter McGuire, Stillwater Capital’s Nick Malinowski, and CW Custom Flooring’s Coby Russell. Mart says they played 72 holes in two days—while they were worn out physically, they were quite mentally stimulated.

TIG SVP and property management director Brenda Kindt Joyner got a name change (and a wedding ring) over the summer. Here she is with her husband on their honeymoon in Napa Valley. They enjoyed a wonderful wine tour through Cakebread Winery and brought a few great wines home to continue enjoying the experience after, she says.

A group of BOMA Dallas members (including multiple past presidents and family members) took an Alaskan fishing trip this summer. The group makes it an annual trek to a different locale each year. (No word on how many years they’ve been doing it, but we’re assuming there are lot of fish tales to go around.) Pictured: (back row) Joe Dobbs (retired from Crescent), John Anderson (retired from Granite), Texas Amerrock's David Martinez, TIG's Kevin Mackey, IMS' Larry Johonnesson, Don Vardell (retired from Crescent), and former BOMA Dallas executive director Joe Marchant. Front row: Montgomery Cranes' Michael Marchant, Peloton's Ray Mackey, and VMC Landscape's Al Horstmann

Greysteel’s Doug Banerjee hung out at the PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville, Ky. He attended all four days of the tournament with his dad and best friend, Eric Saling, and saw Rory McIlroy sink his birdie putt on 17 just before dark to clinch the victory. Spending much of his childhood in Louisville, Doug says it was a homecoming of sorts. Plus Eric and his wife had their second child July 28 (a day after Doug’s birthday), so he was able to meet her for the first time.
