Major Incentives Bill Still Stuck in Legislature

Placeholder

The Job Development Investment Grant—North Carolina's keystone incentives program—has run out of money, and so far the state legislature has been unable to agree on passing new legislation to re-fund it. JDIG allows the state to offer incentives to major HQs and manufacturing projects. It was a key tool in bringing Sealed Air Corp, MetLife Group, AvidXchange and others to the Charlotte region. During deliberations, an unrelated sales-tax provision was added, which seems to have slowed things down; now the bill is in a House-Senate conference committee. [CBJ]
