Subcontractor qualifications for Mint Hill?s new $5.4M Town Hall(rendered above) are being reviewed, and citizens of the eastern Mecklenburg County community can expect to start seeing dirt move by May, town manager Brian Welch tells us. Mint Hill last year picked Charlotte-based Edifice Inc. to be construction manager at-risk, jargon meaning Edifice will be responsible for delivering the building on time and on budget. Edifice won the contract for the 20k SF building in part because it promised to bid out at least 25% of the work to Mint Hill-area subs and to award about 10% of the subcontracting work to minority-owned businesses.
