Larry Korman

CEO

AKA

Larry Korman is President of AKA Serviced Residences and Co-CEO of Korman Communities, a fourth-generation residential real estate company that has developed 30,000 homes and 20,000 apartments over the past century. Today, Korman Communities consists of 24 unparalleled suburban and metropolitan locations within two brands: AVE and AKA.

After graduating from Duke University in 1986, Larry joined the family business full-time and used his studies to maximize the efficiency and efficacy of the operations by branding the 23 garden-style apartment communities into KormanSuites. In 1995, Larry, along with his brother Bradley as Co-CEO, created Korman Communities to take the furnished apartment concept to a higher level by developing and acquiring new mid-rise apartment communities in some of the most dynamic locations on the east coast.

By 2004, recognizing a need for luxury flexible-stay residences with hotel-like services, Larry created a new collection, AKA, a pioneering brand of twelve extended-stay properties in key urban markets including New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Washington DC and London. Under Larry's leadership, AKA has achieved the thoughtful balance between the style and hospitality of an intimate hotel, and the space and comfort of a fully appointed luxury condominium. Along with residences designed by today’s leading architects and interior designers, AKA also features award-winning restaurants, cafes, lounges, bars, wellness centers, business facilities, screening cinemas and innovative experiential programs. Recently, Larry was honored by the 2020 Serviced Apartment Awards with the Inspiration Award for a lifetime achievement of innovation in the serviced apartment industry, while AKA was given the industry's global award for best overall operator of serviced apartments.
