Empire State Realty Trust

Anthony E. Malkin is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. He joined its

predecessor entities in 1989. Mr. Malkin has been a leader in existing building energy efficiency retrofits through

coordinating the team of Clinton Climate Initiative, Johnson Controls, JLL, and Rocky Mountain Institute in a

groundbreaking project at the Empire State Building (www.esbsustainability.com). Mr. Malkin led the

development of standards for energy efficient office tenant installations which is now known as the Tenant

Energy Optimization Program at the Urban Land Institute (https://tenantenergy.uli.org/). Mr. Malkin is a board

member of APi Group Corporation, the Real Estate Roundtable and Chair of its Sustainability Policy Advisory

Committee, a member of the Climate Mobilization Advisory Board of the New York City Department of

Buildings, a member of the Urban Land Institute, member of the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Board of

New York, member of the Partnership for New York City’s Innovation Council, and a member of the Building

Committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. Malkin received a bachelor’s degree cum laude from

Harvard College.

As Chief Sustainability Officer, Elizabeth (Beth) Heider, FAIA, LEED Fellow, translates Skanska’s commitment to sustainability into action while serving on Skanska USA’s Management Team. She supports Skanska's US business units: Building and Civil (construction), and Commercial Development with combined annual revenues of approximately $7 Billion. Her career encompasses all phases of design and construction as architect, construction manager and sustainability leader. An intrepid researcher and tireless advocate, she emboldens the design, construction and business communities to create a more sustainable future. Known for her work making the business case for green and net zero energy buildings she has been invited to present at over 200 international conferences focusing on the nexus of design, sustainability and good business. Heider served for six years on USGBC’s national Board of Directors which she chaired in 2012. She currently serves on the board of the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). She is widely recognized for her leadership in building more sustainably, most recently by ILFI as a “Living Building Hero”. She serves on the Envision Review Board supporting the development of this powerful rating system for sustainable infrastructure.
