Managing Director

New Land Enterprises

Tim oversees development, acquisition and management for New Land Enterprises – a pioneering real estate development firm specializing in mixed-use residential and commercial real estate. New Land evaluates every project at the neighborhood scale, striving to create memorable spaces, focused on user experience, believing that cities thrive when they're diverse, walkable, and culturally vibrant.

Recent projects include Urbanite, a mixed-use 13-story high-rise on Milwaukee's East Side and Kinetik, a 140-unit mixed-use project that converted a city street into a pedestrian plaza. Community projects include Black Cat Alley, a defunct alley turned public arts space, and the permanent placement of the Milwaukee Film Festival in the Oriental Theater, a unique movie theater on the National Register of Historic Places.

New Land's latest project, Ascent, was featured in the NYTimes for its pioneering use of mass timber (https://nyti.ms/2s6BnGw), and will be the tallest timber structure in the world.

Sarah Smith

Head of Mass Timber Sales

Katerra

Sarah leads mass timber sales at Katerra, working closely with builders, designers, and developers

seeking reliable, competitive, high-quality solutions for building with mass timber. Before Katerra, Sarah

led strategy projects at AECOM, and provided strategic guidance to public and private sector clients on

emerging markets as a management consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton. She holds a BA and MBA from

Yale University.

Lisa Podesto

Director of Mass Timber and Sustainable Construction

Swinerton

Lisa is a passionate advocate for sustainable structures, serving as rotating Chair of the Structural Engineers Association of California’s Sustainable Design Committee since 2009 and co-authoring several papers on sustainable design and construction, including one of the first studies on the life cycle impacts of structural systems. Highly engaged in California’s AB2446 embodied carbon workshops, she continues to lead efforts that advance low-carbon building strategies. Building on her expertise in timber innovation and sustainability, she supports clients and project teams through feasibility planning, design management, cost planning, and pre-construction, guiding early decisions to deliver pioneering, environmentally responsible projects.

Lloyd Proctor Jr.

Emcee

OpenSquare

Fascinated by the “why” behind the growth of emerging industries, Lloyd started with numbers, research, and analytics. He spent years in East Coast markets as an analyst, identifying commonalities where development activity was emerging. Moving to the opposite coast, Lloyd began curating content on commercial and biotech tenant trends in the PNW.

Lloyd’s persistence in dissecting how people shape environments continues to drive his interest in the CRE sector. As our new Market Development Manager, Lloyd finds solutions and opportunities to deliver environments that foster better connections, collaboration, research, and innovation for commercial and biotech organizations.

Summary

  1. What sustainability benefits does CLT offer? How does that trickle down to tenants?

  2. How are the delivery challenges that come with using new construction technologies being overcome?

  3. How are developers finding saving opportunities during pre-construction and installation when using CLT? How do manufacturers support these opportunities?

  4. How can CLT be a viable solution to make projects more affordable?

  5. How are recent regulatory changes influencing the development process in this current climate?
