A Seitan Garnish Wins a Cocktail Competition
Seven brave chefs traded their knives for shakers Thursday night, meaning Chefs Behind Bars benefiting Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign was back. The popular event series pits chefs against each other in a cocktail competition. Tuna sashimi, a mint marshmallow, and galangal made their way into drinks. Doron Petersan of vegan bakery Sticky Fingers won the judges' choice award for her coconut milk and rum based cocktail that came garnished with a skewer of fruits, veggies and a slab of seitan (a vegetarian protein). Doron is gearing up to open a vegan bistro dubbed Fare Well. We snapped her with emcee Nycci Nellis. Chefs from Vidalia, Birch & Barley, Jack Rose, Juniper, Mango Tree and Rural Society also participated in the event held at Stanton & Greene.
