Atherton Mansion Sells for Near-Record $35.3M

A home in Atherton (more than 20k SF and built on spec) just sold for $35.3M, making it almost the most expensive home in the city.

The three-level home at 119 Tuscaloosa Ave was listed for $36.8M in September. Designed by Arcanum Architecture, it sits on a nearly two-acre lot and boasts seven bedrooms, eight full baths, three partial baths and a six-car garage. There's also a cabana guest house, SocketSite reports. At the end of last year, the more than 12k SF home on two and a half acres at 85 Isabella Ave sold for $40M.

Both sales are dwarfed only by the 2011 sale of Pine Brook Estate at 237 Atherton Ave, a 12-acre compound with an 11k SF main home, seven-bedroom guest house and three-bedroom cottage, which traded for $53M. [SS]
