Construction is underway at Hines’ first for-rent multifamily project in Oakland. The MacArthur Commons development in the Temescal District will have three buildings totaling 468,570 SF. The 385 units will consist of seven lofts, 59 studios, 241 one-bedroom units and 78 two-bedroom apartments.
MacArthur Commons, designed by Ankrom Moisan Architects, will include a fitness center, a clubroom, an outdoor pool and spa, a dog run, a bike repair station, and a pedestrian plaza dubbed The Mews in between the buildings. About 20k SF of ground-floor retail will be included.
The development is adjacent to the MacArthur BART station and will have access to the I-80 and I-580, corporate shuttles and bus service.
General contractor Build Group expects occupancy of the first units to begin October 2018 and the entire development to be completed March 2019.
