Carson Approves $1.7B NFL Stadium

More drama on the NFL to LA saga, as Carson has now approved the joint proposal from the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers. The $1.7B proposal first surfaced in February, though both teams are expected to push their current cities for stadiums. Above is a look at the project, designed by MANICA Architecture. But the teams are a little behind in the race to bring football to LA, as St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke has received approval for his $2B stadium partnership with Stockbridge Capital Group.

Stan's proposal has caused AEG to pull out of its plans to build Farmer's Field adjacent to Staples Center in DTLA. The Carson proposal promises no tax money, making it a completely privately financed endeavor—another challenge. While San Diego has remained quiet, Oakland has already begun pushing to keep the Raiders with a $1.5B stadium proposal, with Irvine-based SunCal now working with the team.
