Contractors have been identified for two joint construction projects being carried out by the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The contractor selection is the next step in moving forward with plans to replace Xfinity Mobile Arena in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex and demolish two blocks of ailing retail along East Market Street.

The NBA and NHL franchises announced Friday they selected Turner Construction and AECOM Hunt to manage construction of the venue via a joint venture called Pact+.

Other local firms involved include Perryman Construction, Hunter Roberts Construction Group and Camfred Construction.

The venue, which is being designed by Populous and Moody Nolan, will be “the most technologically advanced and fan-focused sports and entertainment venue in the world,” Sixers partner David Adelman said in a statement.

The joint venture aims to have the new facility complete before the WNBA adds a Philly team for the 2030 season.

The Sixers spent years working to get approvals for a new stadium that would have replaced part of the Fashion District at 12th and Filbert streets in Market East.

Their pivot back toward a collaboration with Flyers owner Comcast Spectacor at the media conglomerate’s South Philadelphia Sports Complex threw the future of ailing Market East back in the air.

But the team hasn’t given up on the neighborhood.

Comcast and 76ers parent company Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment spent $56M on a string of low-rise Market Street commercial properties between Ninth and 11th streets in June.

They have now tapped Norristown-based Pride Enterprises Inc. to demolish the properties, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Some of the space could be made available for events celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary next summer, the outlet reported.

The Turner-AECOM partnership has a long history of building arenas, including Barclays Center in Brooklyn, State Farm Arena in Atlanta and Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
