R.D. Olson Construction is just beginning work on a 55-unit affordable housing project in Fullerton.

Fifty-four of the units in the five-story, 52,407 SF complex will be affordable.

It will consist of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in two buildings at 335 East Santa Fe Ave.

There will be a 24K SF parking garage on the one-acre site. Amenities will include a courtyard, a playground, a barbecue area, an on-site leasing office, laundry facilities and a bike-storage room.

It is the firm’s fourth affordable housing project.

Related California is the developer for the project, along with the architectural firm IDS Group.

R.D. Olson Construction's project team consists of project manager Gary Hoskins, project superintendent Jeff Stratton and project engineer Mat Epperson.

The project is expected to be completed in May.
