One of the biggest residential developments in Pentagon City could be getting much, much bigger. Vornado is planning to add 1,100 units in four buildings to the three-building, 1,670-unit RiverHouse complex it owns on 37 acres. Three of the seven-story buildings would have 934 market rate apartments and the fourth would be a 150-affordable-unit building, ARLnow reports. The development adds to Vornado's growing development presence in Pentagon City, including the 10-acre, mixed-use PenPlace project and the 700-unit Whole Foods-anchored The Bartlett. That development drew the ire of residents of the nearby Arlington Ridge neighborhood, who weren't fans of Vornado's plans for the future of RiverHouse's surface parking lots.
