The final piece of the 2M SF redevelopment of the McMillan water filtration site is close to approval. Jair Lynch is proposing a seven-story, 236-unit apartment project on the western end of the project, called Parcel 2. The project will be split into two U-shaped buildings connected by a five-story span over an alley served by 19k SF of ground-floor retail. The parcel is one of seven the District agreed to sell to Jair, EYA and Trammell Crow, which are developing townhouses and office buildings respectively, according to the Washington Business Journal. DC will get $27M from the sale and reinvest it into a park and community center on the site, between Michigan Avenue, North Capitol Street and First Street NW. Parcel 2 will go before the Zoning Commission this month, but a pending zoning appeal could delay construction for a year or longer. [WBJ]
