The Seven Corners area of Fairfax County, long the bane of NoVa commuters, could get a serious redesign. The Fairfax Planning Commission will vote next month on a proposal to plan the area's future as one of walkable villages and town centers, with parks and townhouses. The current intersection of routes 50 and 7 sees 110,000 cars per day, according to the Washington Post. Some residents are critical of the plan, saying the area can't handle more activity. Others, meanwhile, say the aging neighborhood should look more like Shirlington in Arlington—a walkable retail center with mid-rise apartments and a stable office market. [WaPo]
