Expanding . . . with Contracts

In a recent bold move, Perkins+Will more than doubled the size of its NYC headquarters at 215 Park Ave South to over 40k SF in an expansion and consolidation from space on West 18th St. We dropped by to say hello to managing director Paul Eagle (with principal Joan Blumenfeld and associate Abigail Carlen), who tells us that despite a drop in corporate and commercial work, higher education, sci-tech, healthcare, K-12, and aviation are proving to be sweet spots for the firm.
It was recently awarded an $80M high school consolidation in Baltimore, it's designing University at Albany’s new $35M business school, and it's continuing work on the $1B NYPD Police Academy in College Point, Queens. It’s also active internationally, including the renovation of Hanwha’s Tower 63 convention hall in Seoul, above. (Paul's heading to Korea in August, the country’s hottest month!). At home, Perkins is advising companies like Kiehl’s on greening strategies; the office now boasts 103 LEED accredited professionals out of 150 total employees, he says.
