HOUSTON--ARA VP Adam Allen closed four equity deals last month for multifamily development in Houston. That volume is noteworthy, but even more exciting, three were for suburban assets. Adam tells us originating equity for development is still difficult, but Houston's strong fundamentals have coaxed cash from institutional and private investors. A strong sponsor helps--these projects are with Alliance Residential and Trammell Crow Residential: the 203-unit Broadstone 3800 in Midtown; 370-unit Broadstone Greenhouse in Katy; 380-unit Alexan Creekside Pines in The Woodlands; and 354-unit Alexan Enclave in the Energy Corridor. Adam has two more equity deals closing there this quarter.
