Self-Storage Developer Planning Hollywood Facility With Film Vault Capacity

A Self-Storage Facility With Film Vault Capabilities Is Coming To Hollywood.

A storage property in Hollywood will soon be replaced by a new one that is seven stories tall and able to store film assets.

Dallas-based self-storage veteran Baranof Holdings filed plans with the city to build the 168K SF facility at North Seward and Romaine streets in Hollywood, The Real Deal reported. A Google Street View of the property shows truck storage and a climate-controlled film vault at the site now.

Project filings indicate that the new storage building would be able to accommodate media assets such as video and audio tapes and photographs, as well as the run-of-the-mill items that would normally be placed into self-storage, according to TRD. It is unclear whether the facility would have climate controls for the film vault units or any additional amenities for the more specialized items it stores.

A representative for Baranof declined to share additional details, citing the project's early stage of development. Property records show that the property is among six parcels bounded by Seward, Romaine and Hudson Avenue that a company called Pure Silver Enterprises purchased in 2013 for $3.9M.

Baranof, along with JV partner Clarion Partners, owns self-storage facilities in San Diego and Venice and works nationally to develop and own self-storage sites.
