St. Louis Fights to Keep Rams

St. Louis isn't going down without a fight. Despite the announcement earlier this week that Rams owner Stan Kroenke had teamed up with Stockbridge Capital to build a stadium in Inglewood, St. Louis has countered with a $900M stadium. The proposal, spearheaded by a team created by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is designed by HOK and 360 Architecture for 60-acres along the Mississipi River. The venue would also be capable of housing a MLS soccer franchise.

The proposal by Stan this week would include constructing an 80,000-seat stadium and performance venue, combining a 60-acre parcel Stan picked up last year and the 238-acre Hollywood Park site. The team brought in architectural big guns Gensler for the design. There have been several other pitches to bring the NFL to LA in recent years, including talk just last month of Carson as a potential landing spot, where league officials were reportedly checking out the 172-acre Victoria Park near the intersection of the 405 and 110. In addition, LA's wealthiest real estate mogul Ed Roski has approval for a stadium in City of Industry and AEG has approval for Farmers Field adjacent to Staples Center.
