Add another to the list of areas vying to host an NFL Team. League officials have been checking out the 172-acre Victoria Park near where the 405 and 110 meet, according to the LA Business Journal. (Though they may have just been looking for a spot for the NFL company picnic.) Industry insiders had suspected the next NFL team may end up in Downtown or Inglewood.
The Journal says Newport Beach developer Jeffrey Klein, whose family operates the Malibu Country Club, is investing in the park and has already been approached by two teams. The lease with the County has more than 20 years left, so there would need to be a buyout in place. Also, the land is on a landfill, so substantial cleanup would be required. (Bringing in the Raiders wouldn't help much in that department.) But with proximity to the OC, it could be quite the draw.
