The 22,000-seat stadium for Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Football Club is being designed by Gensler and will also include more than 100k SF of restaurants, office space, a conference center and a world soccer museum. The team plans to have the facility open for the 2018 MLS stadium, when the club will first play.
The project is expected to bring one-time economic activity of more than $275M and over 1,200 new union and non-union jobs to South LA. In addition, it's estimated to produce more than $129M in new economic activity, create more than 1,800 full-time jobs and produce $2.5M in annual tax revenue. The Club’s ownership says it has a preliminary agreement with USC, which is responsible for managing the Sports Arena site. The Coliseum Commission has also agreed to hold a public hearing later this month to start its review process for the stadium.
