A demo permit has been issued for the iconic coffee shop on La Cienega, but a late push to get the 1957 building desingated as a Historic Cultural Monument may put things on hold, Curbed reports. The chain (Westwood location above) was founded in 1949, but was sold late last year to Jim Balis, who made his name with Dunkin' Donuts. Angelenos are not eager to see the landmark go, so expect a drawn-out fight here.
