Just opened on Venice Beach, steps from the boardwalk, next to Piccolo, by rising star Jesse Barber. Jesse first came to prominence as sous chef of Tasting Kitchen, and got rave reviews the last couple of years from the LA Times for creations at Barnyard.

Now Jesse's started his own place, bringing farm-to-table to a new level, changing the menu every day depending on what he finds at local farmers markets. On his menu the other night, such choices such as: lamb, Oregon huckleberries, chanterelles, polenta; sable, citrus emulsion, beans, smoked marigold salsa; beer battered soft shell crab, tomatoes, avocado, frisee; and gnoccho Fritto, apricot lane house cured pancetta.

Popular among the list of snacks: roasted peppers boquerones.

And figs and fromage blanc. So go play in the ocean over Labor Day, work up an appetite, put down your pail and shovel, and mosey on over.
