AEG Report Dubs Inglewood Stadium a Terrorist Threat

The entertainment firm brought in former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, who found the Inglewood project shouldn't be completed due to concerns terrorists would seek to attack the venue, according to The LA Times. This comes less than a week after the Inglewood City Council granted approval to the JV of Stan Kroenke, owner of the St. Louis Rams, and Stockbridge Capital Group to build a $2B football stadium.

Some have already begun to question the report, as AEG has an NFL stadium project of its own: Farmers Field adjacent to its Staples Center. No other agency has come to a similar conclusion regarding the Inglewood stadium, which includes an 80,000-seat stadium and performance venue at the 238-acre Hollywood Park site, which Stockbridge owns.

This is just the latest drama in the saga, which has included a pitch from the the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers—they plan to pursue constructing a $1.7B NFL stadium in Carson. In addition, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has pitched a $900M proposal along the Mississippi river to entice the Rams to stay. [LAT]
