The $1.7B joint proposal from the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders to bring the NFL back to LA has lost some luster, as plans to build a 120-foot tower that would shoot lightning bolts for the Chargers and flames for the Raiders have been scrapped. New renderings from Manica Architecture show a giant Lombardi trophy overlooking a 56k SF bar on the concourse instead. Privately financed, the 168-acre project retains luxury suites and still has room for tailgating and a community football field. Most in LA still view the $2B plan from Stan Kroenke to bring the St. Louis Rams to Inglewood ahead in the race, and this week the pitch drew the support of one of the league's most well-known (and richest) owners, Jerry Jones.
