In an award-winning move, Health Management Systems purchased 5615 Highpoint Dr in Irving (no price was disclosed, but the tax appraiser values it at around $10M) for a new national HQ (from NYC) for its wholly owned subsidiary, HMS. (It provides cost containment solutions for government-funded, commercial, and private entities.) The firm employed 671 people in Irving, occupying 84k SF before the purchase. HMS will expand into almost 224k SF with an additional 350 jobs anticipated. As a result, the firm received the Dallas Regional Momentum Award. HMS was one of only eight companies recognized during the awards ceremony, says Don Williams, director of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce business retention/expansion program. And kudos to Don as well, as it sounds like he did exactly what his job title calls for.
