Some neighbors may not be happy about it, but the LA Planning Commission has approved a new hotel in Koreatown.
The project, designed by Koreatown's CORBeL Architects, will be built on Harvard Boulevard, south of Wilshire.
The seven-story hotel will have 110 hotel rooms and a 1,840 SF restaurant on the ground level, Curbed Los Angeles reports. The project was approved in a 5-1 vote with a recommendation of more bicycle parking.
Some members of the community protested the project, arguing it should contain housing instead. The property is zoned for a multifamily development.
The developer is seeking a zoning change.
The LA Planning and Land Use Management Committee and the LA City Council will have to vote next on the project for it to get final approval.
Other hotel projects are also coming to Koreatown, including the transformation of Wilshire Galleria into a mixed-use project slated to include a hotel, restaurants, retail and 545 residential units.
