Glendale Revival Moves to Hospitality

The next step of the Glendale renaissance is underway, with R.D. Olson constructing a five-story, 94-room Hampton Inn & Suites in the city's Downtown. RD project exec Tommy Marcum says the project will continue to ramp up the growth in the Downtown area. The 57k SF hotel designed by Togawa Smith Martin is on the corner of Colorado and Brand, adjacent to the illustrious Americana at Brand. It'll feature an elevated outdoor pool deck with mountain views, lounge seating with an outdoor fireplace and a fitness center.

The modernization of Glendale started with Rick Caruso (one of the city's wealthiest real estate moguls) and his Americana. And multifamily has been on fire the last few years in the city, which recently green-lighted a big project from rock star developer Steve Fifield (Steve told us it may be one of the last large-scale developments in Glendale). RD is a major player in the hotel space, with eight other LA-area projects underway, including the Residence Inn by Marriott at (LAX) and the reno of the W Hotel. The firm also has been growing its footprint in OC.
