Banc Of California Named As Bank For LA Olympic Bid

Banc of California will be the official commercial bank for LA 2024, the committee working to bring the 2024 Summer Olympics to LA.

The bid will strengthen the area economy and community, says Chad Brownstein, bank vice chairman. Banc of California has a strong presence in LA, including the new first-of-its-kind Century City private client center opened last year (shown above).

Wasserman Media Group chairman and CEO Casey Wasserman is chairing the LA 2024 effort along with the bid's CEO, Goldman Sachs' Gene Sykes. It is also heavily supported by LA Mayor Eric Garcetti.

Vice chairs include Earvin “Magic” Johnson, retired LA Laker and founder of Magic Johnson Enterprises; Olympic gold medalist Janet Evans; and labor leader Maria Elena Durazo, VP for Unite Here, which reps a variety of industry workers, and former head of the 800,000-member LA County Federation of Labor.

The process involves a two-year bid in advance of the Sept. 15, 2017, host city announcement that is scheduled to be made by the International Olympic Committee during its meeting in Lima, Peru.

“Our bid is about the best of Los Angeles—innovation, creativity and sustainability. We are proud to partner with Banc of California to empower our Olympic dreams,” Wasserman says.

Banc of California was also named last month to Forbes Magazine’s 2016 List of the 100 Best Banks in America.
