Shipping agent and logistics company The Armitt Group will build a new terminal at London Thamesport, a location chosen for its deepwater berths and road and rail links, according to The Construction Index.

Groundbreaking is slated for the third quarter of this year, and freight could start moving early next year.

The new facility will be known as Armitt Multimodal Terminal South. The Armitt Group plans to develop similar facilities in the midlands and north of the UK within the next three years.

The new terminal is the next step in the company’s strategy of building a fully integrated supply chain across the UK to service European and Far Eastern markets. [TCI]
