One thing is a constant about Boston: students flock here. But will there be enough housing for them at a price they can pay? Find out at our Boston Higher Ed & Student Housing event on Oct. 20 (Thursday) at The Ritz-Carlton Boston.

Capstone Development Partners principal Jeff Jones, who will be a speaker at the event, tells us Boston is a market with considerable demand for student housing, but also one with high barriers to entry.

"To address the need and heed the mayor's call for more student housing, it will take experienced development teams that have the patience, resources and unique skills to balance the needs and goals of institutions, while working within the regulatory guidelines of the city, and respecting the interests of established neighborhoods," he tells us.

Capstone is developing a 1,000-bed residence hall for UMass Boston's Columbia Point campus, which will be complete in time for the 2018-19 academic year. The development is structured as a public-private partnership through which the University of Massachusetts Building Authority, the University, and Capstone are working to provide high-quality yet affordable housing to UMass Boston students.
