Larry Lenrow, a longtime commercial real estate executive who was most recently managing director of property management and operations at The Davis Cos., died suddenly on Monday, June 8. He was 64.

Lenrow was with TDC for more than 20 years, joining in 1999 after working as a broker and asset and property manager. In his most recent position at Davis, he oversaw the management of about 11.8M SF of office, retail, hospitality, industrial, healthcare and life sciences properties and about 4,000 residential units in the eastern United States. He also served on the company's investment committee.

"Everyone at The Davis Companies is devastated by the loss of our dear friend and partner Larry Lenrow," CEO Jonathan Davis wrote in an email to Bisnow. "Larry had every characteristic you would want in a colleague. He was kind, funny, innovative and passionate about our shared mission. He was always willing to help anyone who asked. He always managed to make our business dealings feel much less like work.

"In Judaism we say to the bereaved, 'May his memory be a blessing.' We are all blessed with unique, loving and indelible memories of Larry."

Lenrow began his career in the late 1970s as a real estate specialist at PricewaterhouseCoopers, then Coopers & Lybrand, and spent much of the 1980s as head of the asset management company for Leggat McCall Cos.

He was a founding member of Compass Management and Leasing in New York City and ran their Northeast operations before joining TDC. Lenrow was an active member of BOMA Boston, and a BOMI Course instructor for over 25 years. In 2012, he won an Executive of the Year Award at the organization's TOBY Awards.

"Larry was a leader in the industry and a mentor to many in our membership," BOMA Boston said in a message to its members Friday. "This is a great loss for our community here at BOMA Boston. Larry will be truly missed."

Outside of work, Lenrow founded an improv acting school in Boston in the 1980s, according to the obituary his family wrote, and was a poet, performer on stage and accomplished harpist. A resident of Duxbury, he was on the Duxbury Finance Committee and played on the American Legion baseball team.

Having graduated from college at 19 with a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University, Lenrow later earned master's degrees in education (Simmons College), accounting (Northeastern University), business (Northeastern University) and taxation (Bentley College).

Lenrow is survived by his wife, Jan, and daughter Rachel.
