A national construction company based in California has expanded its operations in the Boston area with an office in Waltham.

DPR Construction announced Tuesday it opened a 200-person office in Waltham to fuel its growth in the region. The company leased a 16K SF office at 950 Winter St. in Waltham, a spokesperson told Bisnow.

"As the hub for our New England operations, this new location will allow our employees the flexibility needed to serve our customers throughout the region," Patrick Cusson, DPR's Boston business unit leader, said in a release. "There is significant potential in this market and we are excited to be at the center of it. We are excited to grow with New England."

The company outgrew its startup office in Cambridge due to the rise in the number of biotech, healthcare and university clients and projects it is working on. Those projects include the 95K SF Baystate Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke, Biogen's Building 8 renovations in Cambridge, and Boston University's Kamenetska lab renovation in Boston.

Its new Waltham office is in a building owned by Boston Properties, which also owns three other buildings at 1000, 1050 and 1100 Winter St. that make up the 957K SF Bay Colony campus. Other tenants include the United Health Group and PatientKeeper.

DPR has offices in 28 other markets across the country and locations in South America, Europe and Asia, according to its website. It counts over 11,000 employees in these offices.
