CBRE promoted Kelli Carhart to executive managing director and leader of capital markets for multifamily properties in the U.S.

Carhart was previously head of multifamily debt production at CBRE. In her new role, she will steer the company’s multifamily business nationally, the Dallas-based brokerage announced Wednesday. CBRE was involved in more than $76B in multifamily deals in the U.S. in 2022.

Carhart is the first woman to lead CBRE’s multifamily business and, according to Green Street, the first woman in the role at a major brokerage.

Carhart “will lead CBRE’s multifamily platform that combines investment sales and financing, as well as integrating with investment banking into a single, fully integrated service offering,” the company said in a release.

Carhart joined CBRE two years ago and spent 17 years at Freddie Mac, serving as its vice president of multifamily production and sales and overseeing $30B in annual volume.

The previous head of multifamily capital markets, Brian McAuliffe, held the position for a decade. McAuliffe will move into a new role as a vice chairman where he will deal in “special multifamily assignments,” CBRE said.
