WeWork Exec Raised Nearly $70k For De Blasio Re-Election

A WeWork executive recently bundled roughly $69k for Mayor Bill de Blasios 2017 re-election bid after pitching the city on potential future projects, the latest development to come out of ongoing probes of de Blasio’s fundraising practices.

WeWork employed lobbyist Jon Silvan of Global Strategy Group in January to get them access to the de Blasio Administration. Jon was able to get a call with Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen and discuss “future projects” WeWork wants to work on with the city, the New York Daily News reports.

Shortly thereafter WeWork VP Arana Hankin began gathering checks to donate to de Blasio’s 2017 bid, to the tune of roughly $69k, making her de Blasio’s single largest bundler.

The news comes as de Blasio continues to face intense scrutiny over alleged pay-to-play fundraising practices. WeWork has also found itself in hot water lately, as the firm is being accused of cutting out unions like the District Council of Carpenters in its construction deals. [NYDN]
