Could The Coliseum And Inglewood NFL Stadium Play Host To The Olympics' Opening Ceremonies In 2024?

L.A. officials have been trying to choose the location for the opening ceremonies if L.A. wins its bid to host the 2024 Olympics.

L.A. council members are interested in having the Coliseum be the site, while others propose using the $2.6B stadium being built in Inglewood.

Now the LA2024 committee is proposing having the ceremonies at both. Committee leaders are expected to make that proposal to the International Olympic Committee next month.

The ceremonies would be linked and begin at the Coliseum and end at the Inglewood NFL Stadium, the L.A. Times reports. The plan could make the Olympics accessible to more people, local organizers said.

Paris and Budapest also are competing for the 2024 Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee is expected to make its decision in September. [LAT]
